Established in 1998, the New Zealand Telugu Association has been committed to preserving Telugu language, culture, traditions and festivals for future generations. Alongside cultural activities, NZTA actively supports social service, education, youth development and community welfare across New Zealand.
From blood donation camps and tree planting to Telugu Badi classes and world literary conferences — a record of service built over 28 years.
Community01For over 28 years, NZTA has served as a trusted pillar of the Telugu community, promoting unity and cultural identity.
Social service02For more than 10 years, NZTA has organised blood donation camps twice a year. Many donors have participated and supported this life-saving initiative.
NZTA expresses heartfelt gratitude to every donor.
Environment03NZTA worked with the Auckland Council to plant more than 1,500 native plants to support environmental balance and biodiversity.
NZTA thanks all volunteers who contribute to this meaningful activity.
Social service04In partnership with Red Cross, NZTA participates in the Meals on Wheels programme by delivering hot meals to elderly and vulnerable people who cannot prepare food on their own.
Education05With the motto “Deshabhashalandu Telugu Lessa,” NZTA runs Telugu language classes to teach children reading, writing, and speaking in Telugu.
NZTA conveys sincere appreciation to the teachers for their dedication and to the parents for encouraging their children to learn Telugu.
Wellbeing06NZTA organises health awareness sessions with senior doctors who offer guidance on wellness, prevention, and chronic diseases.
Culture07NZTA proudly celebrates Telugu festivals with traditional attire, performances, cultural games, and festive food that bring Telugu heritage alive in New Zealand.
Youth08NZTA promotes unity and sportsmanship through annual badminton tournaments and participation in cricket tournaments.
Arts09NZTA encourages performing arts, music, dance, and theatre by providing a platform for both local and international artists.
Literature10NZTA actively promotes literature and has hosted landmark conferences that brought many writers, poets, and scholars into recognition.
Social service11During COVID-19, NZTA provided financial assistance and essential support to students and workers facing hardship.
Recognition12NZTA received the Community Organisation of the Year Award in 2023 at the Kiwi Indian Hall of Fame, acknowledging its outstanding service.
Milestone13NZTA celebrated 25 years of service, highlighting its strong commitment to community harmony, cultural preservation, and collective growth.
